Death:

There are contradictions regarding the date of death for Michele Cofone.

Michele Cofone and Cassandra Golia had two known children born in 1817 and 1821. The birth records of both children list Cassandra as the legitimate wife of Michele. The 1859 Acri marriage record of Angelo Cofone (Michele and Cassandra's son) and Maria Antonia Ferraro states Michele died 04 Sep 1825. However, the earlier 1848 Acri marriage record of Angelo Cofone and Anna Cozzetto states that Michele was still alive in 1848.972, 980

In addition, there is another family involving a Michele Cofone born around the same time. That Michele had six known children with Francesca Adimari between 1811 and 1823. Five of the six children's birth records state Francesca Adimari was Michele's legitimate wife. The sixth record is ambiguous. The 1830 Acri marriage processetti records for Maria Cofone, daughter of Michele Cofone and Francesca Adimari, lists Michele's death date as 04 Sep 1825, the same as the other Michele. However, that 1830 marriage processetti bundle has been proven to be factually incorrect in other records it contains making it of questionable accuracy regarding Michele's death.1038

Given that both Cassandra Golia and Francesca Adimari both appear to be the legitimate wife of a Michele Cofone and the time period of the children's births overlap, it is nearly certain they are two different Michele Cofones. The last know children in both families were born before 1824 so the 1825 death record could be for either Michele. Disregarding the dubious 1830 processetti records, the contradiction remains between the 1848 and 1859 marriage records for Angelo Cofone regarding whether Michele was still living or not.
