The Families of Acri, Italy

Francesco Cozzetto (son of Giuseppe Cozzetto and Maria Aurelia Falco) has two death records. The first (1836 record #166) was recorded on 25 Dec 1836 stating Francesco died 25 Dec 1836. The listed parents were Giuseppe Cozzetto and Maria Falco. The informants were Benedetto Falco and Vincenzo Falco.²⁰⁹⁸

The second (1837 record #1) was recorded 02 Jan 1837. The parents were Giuseppe Cozzetto and Maria Falco. The informants were Benedetto Falco but the Vincenzo Falco in the previous death record was changed to Saverio Falco (likely Maria Aurelia Falco's father). This record states Francesco died 02 Jan 1837.²⁰⁹⁹

It appears the name of informant Vincenzo Falco was incorrect on the first death record written on 25 Dec 1836. Eight days later, the family returned to have the record corrected. By this time, the clerks in Acri likely had sent the 1836 death tallies and end of year paperwork to the provincial capital of Cosenza.

On 02 Jan 1837, the second death record was created to correct informant Vincenzo Falco to Saverio Falco. The clerk likely changed the date of death from 25 Dec 1836 to 02 Jan 1837 to avoid having to correct the 1836 end of year paperwork already sent to Cosenza. This second death record was then simply added to the new 1837 year tally.
